← Interview of Lix Z
Lix Z shares the journey of their life and work as a non-binary artist, educator, and organizer through three cities: New York City, Oakland, and Berlin. They explain how queer DIY communities, among which were living collectives, punk and performance scenes, as well as the kink and fetish-wear networks that flourished artistically, had a significant influence on their development. Lix discusses their employment as a public school teacher in Oakland, where they helped undocumented students, managed a queer student group, and navigated the challenges of the education system. They also mention queer nightlife, public sex, and the anarchist and abolitionist principles that guide their activism. Subsequently, Lix ponders moving back to New York, continuing their creative work, and engaging in the struggle against policing, ICE, and state violence.
