Francois was born and raised in New York to parents who immigrated from Haiti. Intending to pursue a career as an entertainment lawyer, they became more interested in organizing upon doing work with FIERCE and moving to the Bay Area. They discuss their parents’ lives in Haiti, colonization in Brooklyn, and embracing their queerness in the Bay Area. Central to Francois’ journey has been cultivating vulnerability and compassion, along with decolonizing the ideas about gender expression they grew up with.
