Anaïs “An” Duplan is a 27 year old poet from Jacmel, Haiti, and has spent time living across the Northeast as well as Cuba. They describe forming the Center for Afrofuturist Studies and their personal relationship to afrofuturism, expansive ideas of gender, and their connection to poetry. Anaïs opens up about inherited family lessons and their work undoing pre-existing narratives as an endlessly generative activity. Anaïs is the author of Take This Stallion, Mount Carmel and the Blood of Parnassus, and Blackspace: On the Poetics of an Afrofuture.
